TRICARE offers essential patient resources designed to enhance healthcare access and management for military families. Key resources include filing claims, downloading forms, and accessing the Military Health System Customer Service Directory for support. Beneficiaries can manage their health records, understand patient rights and responsibilities, and utilize multimedia educational content. Additionally, TRICARE promotes safety and wellness initiatives, ensuring members are informed about their healthcare options.
The Nurse Advice Line provides support to TRICARE beneficiaries 24/7 at no cost. Their team is here to help you navigate military family's healthcare needs. They provide healthcare advice, assist in determining an appropriate level of care, locating a provider or pharmacy, same and next-day appointment scheduling at military hospitals and clinics when advised by a nurse and empaneled to an MTF, and more.
BENEFEDS is the government-authorized and U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM)-sponsored enrollment portal that eligible participants use to enroll in the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP).
Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS)
TAPS provides compassionate care to all those grieving the death of a military loved one. Since 1994, TAPS has provided comfort and hope 24/7 through a national peer support network and connection to grief resources, all at no cost to surviving families and loved ones.
Thrive - Penn State University

The Department of Defense is committed to the health and well-being of military children and families. DOD teamed with the Clearinghouse for Military Family Readiness at Penn State to create a parenting-education program. Thrive is a free online program for busy parents like you. It promotes positive parenting, stress management, and healthy lifestyle practices. Find out how Thrive can help you raise healthy, resilient children from birth to 18.
The Military Health System (MHS) is a vast healthcare network serving approximately 9.5 million beneficiaries, including active duty members, retirees, and their families. It combines direct care through military treatment facilities and private sector partnerships to deliver comprehensive medical services. This multifaceted system also engages in medical education, public health, and cutting-edge research.
EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY MEMBER PROGRAM (EFMP)
Use this tool to navigate through the Department of Defense’s network of services and support for families with special needs. Our customized checklist builder makes it easy to stay organized and ensures you always have access to the latest information and resources. No sign-up is required, but you can choose to create an account to save your progress and preferences.
Extended Care Health Option (ECHO)
The Extended Care Health Option (ECHO) provides assistance to beneficiaries with special needs with an integrated set of services and supplies. Families enrolled in EFMP who have been diagnosed with a moderate or severe intellectual disability, a serious physical disability, or an extraordinary physical or psychological condition, may qualify for ECHO. The coverage limit for all ECHO benefits combined, excluding ECHO Home Health Care (EHHC), is $36,000 per beneficiary and per calendar year (Jan. 1–Dec. 31). As part of the Thrive Initiative (a DOD parenting-education program), supplemental modules have been created to support military families. Welcome to Exceptional Families. Embracing Differences. Flourishing Together. This is a parenting program that is designed to offer support to parents and caregivers of children with a disability. Note: The program creators recommend participating in the age-appropriate Thrive parenting program before engaging with any of the supplemental modules to reap the most benefits.

Military and Family Life Counseling
The Military and Family Life Counseling Program supports service members, their families, and survivors with non-medical counseling worldwide. Trained to work with the military community, military and family life counselors deliver valuable face-to-face counseling services, briefings, and presentations to the military community both on and off the installation.
988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline
988 is the new three-digit calling code that will route people to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Simply call or text 988 to connect immediately to counselors who are trained to handle a wide range of mental health issues and connect you with local resources. Your local crisis center is available 24/7, is free of charge, and is completely confidential.
Veterans and service members can text or dial 988 and then press 1 to be connected to the Veterans Crisis Line to connect service members, their families, and their friends to a qualified Department of Defense responder in a time of crisis. You can also chat online at www.veteranscrisisline.net.
The Veterans Crisis Line serves Veterans, service members, National Guard and Reserve members, and those who support them.
We offer brief, client-centered therapy for a variety of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, adjustment issues, anger, grief and loss, family issues, transition challenges, relationship problems, and children’s behavioral problems.
Give an Hour uses the skill, expertise, and generosity of volunteer mental health professionals to provide no-cost mental health care to those in the veteran and military communities, those affected by natural disasters, and/or man-made disasters.
