THRIVE TEAM JBSA

“Our team members advocate for military spouses by representing the spouse voice in the room.”

Janet Driggers, Air Force Spouse

Thrive Team Joint Base San Antonio, established by Mrs. Janet Driggers aims to foster connections between military spouses and local resources through the M&FRC, as well as national resources through Five & Thrive. The team champions military families by engaging with organizations and businesses both on and off installations. They attend monthly briefings such as Newcomers briefs, PreArrival presentations, and Heart Links. Actively reaching out to spouses, they participate in resource fairs and events, distributing flyers and posters in high-traffic spouse areas to disseminate information to military families. One great connection has been with the JBSA Workforce & Transition Alliance. The original purpose of the “Alliance” was to help transitioning service members find post-military services and employment.  The Alliance has embraced the Five & Thrive framework and are now instrumental in helping improve the quality-of-life challenges of JBSA families in five key areas - childcare, education, healthcare, housing, and spouse employment - by advocating for quality-of-life improvements, fostering community partnerships, consolidating quality-of-life resources in one convenient location, educating military families on existing efforts and best practices, and promoting the exceptional value of the military-connected spouse. The JBSA Workforce & Transition Alliance strives to build relationships among government and non-governmental agencies, as well as veteran nonprofit organizations, to provide opportunities for transitioning service members, military spouses, and dependents, seeking assistance with employment, education, credentialing, and entrepreneurship.

Mrs. Driggers recently secured a grant from AFA's United Forces & Families (F2) program to support the Five & Thrive initiative at JBSA. The grant was used to acquire table covers and tangible resources to facilitate sharing resources across “Military Town USA.”  Her team has also received funds from the Military Spouses Club and the Chamber of Commerce to help share the Five & Thrive framework and resources.
